Achieving High Power Density with RTQ5756 Four-Phase Synchronous Buck Converter Family
As AI and high-performance computing continue to shape modern technology, systems are increasingly integrating DSPs or FPGAs to support real-time processing and data-intensive workloads. These applications require higher current and compact designs, making high power density a critical challenge in power system design.
To address this, Richtek introduces its ACOT® 4-phase synchronous Buck converter family RTQ5756, supporting 3V to 5.5V input and 0.4V to 2.05V output. Housed in a compact WL-CSP2.69x3.92-54(BSC) package, this family enables a complete solution within a 70 mm³ form factor, delivering high power density of 0.285W/mm³. Its multi-phase topology reduces output ripple and improves efficiency, ideal for powering DSP in optical modules for AI data centers or high-current, space-constrained systems.
Flexible Phase Configurations & Multiple Output Selections
The RTQ5756 family supports 4 phase operation with various output configurations tailored to system requirements: 1+1+1+1 phase for four outputs, 2+1+1 or 3+1 phase for three outputs, 2+2 or 3+1 phase for dual outputs, and 4-phase single-output, supporting up to 20A output current. The I2C control enables configuration of power-on/off sequencing, watchdog timers, fault detection, dynamic voltage scaling, and slew rate settings, providing high flexibility in system design.
Automatic Phase Adjustment for Optimized Efficiency
In multi-phase output mode, the device intelligently adapts switching frequency and dynamically manages phase addition or reduction based on load conditions. This Auto Phase Adding/Shedding feature reduces power consumption under light load while ensuring sufficient current delivery under heavy load, maximizing overall efficiency.
High Power Density
The total solution requires only 7mm×10mm×1mm of board space and supports up to 20W output power, achieving 0.285W/mm³ high power density, ideal for core power rails in compact systems.
